Boys U17 Summer 2010 Program

This 12 week Program is designed for a U17 age group (1993/1994 born). The Program is for players who are interested in their development as soccer players beyond the winter season. The Program is open to resident Richmond players and also non-resident Richmond players with the proviso that resident Richmond players must comprise not less than 60% of the total at each group. This Program is appropriate for players who would be at a minimum considered “accomplished players.

Curriculum:  The technical, tactical, physical and mental curriculum set out in the RYSA First Team Guide applies to this program.  Otherwise the Program includes:

  • Three training sessions per week or two plus one game.  All sessions will be 2 hours long.
  • Three tournament trips, two in Washington State (Nike Crossfire Challenge & the Baker Blast are probable) and one in Kamloops.  All tournaments will be weekend tournaments with a two or three over-night stay.

Format: The RYSA First Team Program Head Coach, Roberto Sciascia, will run the program.  There will be a U17 team selected by Roberto with the selection criteria for Richmond players based largely on assessments done during the 2009/2010 Winter season.

Player Expectations: In return for committing its resources to the development and delivery of the Program, the RYSA expects that Program players will dedicate the time, energy and focus necessary for them to become the best soccer players that they can be.  At training sessions and games, players should consistently exhibit the determination and the desire to become the best soccer players that they can be and adhere to prescribed rules in respect to attendance, behaviour, punctuality and communication.

Cost: The estimated cost per player will be $1,650.00 plus.  The total costs will be finalized prior to the start of the program as we are pursuing different options to enhance the 2010 program and therefore the cost may increase.  Cost includes Roberto’s coaching, training tops, field costs, referee costs, travel costs, additional insurance, accommodations and meals (3 per day) during tournaments.

RYSA (boys) U9 Academy Program
  ▲Top
This training and development program is for those players (2002 born) that wish to further develop their soccer skills outside of the regular league play.

U9 (2002 born players) Academy is a once per week program on Friday nights from 5:30 to 7:00 at Boyd. The program starts early in mid-September 2010 and continues each Friday evening (with breaks at Thanksgiving and Christmas) until late January, 2011.

We expect to accept 16 – 20 players into this program.  At this young age we will not be conducting player assessments; we therefore ask parents, before registering your child for the program, to consider if your child is ready for additional weekly soccer.  In this respect, we note that we expect all players to attend (all things being equal) all weekly sessions. The cost of this program is $175 per player.   Please register for this program on or before August 28, 2010.

The U9 Academy curriculum is created by and the program is coached by Dougie Gordon (B License National).  The curriculum is based the Long Term Player Development model.  For more on Long Term Player Development see the Canadian Soccer Association’s publication, “Wellness to World Cup.”  A copy of “Wellness” can be found on the Richmond Development Centre web-site: www.richmonddevcentre.com

Programs remain tentative until requisite registration thresholds are met.  Although we do not expect the same, times are subject to change.

For more information on this Richmond Academy Program for 2010/2011 please contact the RYSA Administrator, Tania Webster at admin@richmondsoccer.com .

RYSA (boys) 10 Plus Program

U10 Plus is an RYSA player development program that started almost a decade ago. U10 Plus is directed at those currently (2001 born) more soccer able players who are, in particular, interested in playing U11 selected soccer in the following season.

We expect that 16 – 20 players will be selected to U10 Plus.  We will rely on existing player assessments (from the spring, 2010, U10 Plus program) together with formal assessment sessions in early September to select players – additionally, we will be monitoring U10 players during the course of the playing season and therefore if we identify other players (not already selected to the program) we will be in a position to invite such players into the program.  Registration for these assessments is now open (until August 23) and can be found by clicking on the link below.   For those players selected to the program, the cost of the program will be $275 per player.

In 2010-2011, U10 Plus will be twice per week – Wednesdays and Friday nights from 5:30 to 7:00.  Selected players are expected to attend (all things being equally) all sessions.  The program starts in mid-September and continues each week (with breaks at Thanksgiving and Christmas) until U11 assessments (for the 2011/2012 season) start in late January, 2011.

U10 Plus is coached by Greg Dunham (B License – Provincial, current Provincial Team U15 assistant coach).  The fitness specific elements of the program are led by Marina Watson of Prime Fitness (degree in Exercise Science, Certified Exercise Physiologist and level II Sport Movement Specialist).  The U10 Plus curriculum has been developed by the RYSA Director of Team and Player Development, Doug Long working with Greg and Marina.   U10 Plus, like all Richmond Soccer Academy programs, is based on the Long Term Player Development model.  For more on the Long Term Player Development model see the Canadian Soccer Association’s publication, “Wellness to World Cup.”  A copy of “Wellness” can be found on the Richmond Development Centre web-site: www.richmonddevcentre.com

This program remains tentative until requisite registration thresholds are met.  Although we do not expect the same, times are subject to change.

For more information on U10 Plus please contact the RYSA Administrator, Tania Webster at admin@richmondsoccer.com .  Tania will either address your question or forward as required.
